Airline catering workers in the US took their campaign for a living wage and affordable healthcare to Dallas-Ft Worth on August 13 when more than 600 UNITE HERE members protested outside the headquarters of American Airlines.

In a planned and coordinated action 58 catering workers blocked traffic from an entrance to the airline company to bring attention to their substandard wages.

American Airlines is the major customer of LSG Sky Chefs which employs 11,000 workers in the US. Those employed by catering companies can only achieve a fair agreement if the very profitable airlines allocate enough money to ensure a living wage. One job should be enough to sustain workers and their families.

20,000 employees of airline catering companies have balloted in favour of strike action. IUF affiliates have sought authorization from the National Mediation Board to proceed with the strike.
