The bitter conflict at the Boathouse Restaurant in New York City's Central Park ended on September 22 when Local 6 and the New York Hotel Trades Council settled the issues leading to the 44-day strike. After fighting the workers' effort to organize for months, the Boathouse agreed to recognize the union and reinstate all fired union supporters. Workers voted unanimously in favor of a four-year contract which brings significant gains, including an immediate increase in wages for many non-tipped workers from USD 7.50 to $13.50 an hour, wage hikes for all other bargaining unit members, improved work conditions and full family medical and dental coverage for all employees and their domestic partners.

The union has warmly thanked all supporters who responded to the IUF's solidarity campaign.
